Up-and-coming artist Lua de Santana shows out to the world with her debut single “PiRi PiRi”
The Spanish-Brazilian emerging artist, raised in Vigo, Galicia, and living in Madrid, takes the music scene by storm with her song PiRi PiRi - with sounds of soul and funk intertwined which accumulated over 70K views on social media on the day of its release.
Produced by La Pócima and mastered by the same producers (Joxean Rivas and Mark Luvva), it was distributed on all platforms by The Orchard on September 7th at midnight. With her unique sound, Lua is hoping to present her biggest, strongest project to date showing the world who the f**k she is.
PiRi PiRi represents part of the projection and work that has shaped her as an artist. She grew up listening to music from all over the world, from Flamenco and Reggae, to Soul, Bossa-Nova, Tango and Reggaeton. Lua briefly moved to London to educate herself further with singing and composition, whilst continuing her dance training, which has led to her style being influenced from the sounds, instruments, genres and languages she experienced.
In her own words:
“The day and night; a dark melody that lifts you up and then releases you from the highest point until you collide with the roughest ground; two universes that coexist in peace.
Combining part of my intrusive thoughts that navigate between daydreaming, the world of the night and even my vital and professional despair with two sounds very close to my home, which are the enveloping Soul in English (with which I was trained and raised) and the Free Funk from my homeland, Brazil, I intend to tear myself out of my already uncomfortable hiding place and show myself to the world freely.
And PiRi PiRi being only the snake head”.
The music video premiered on September 7th at 8pm (CEST), which conveys the strength of Lua de Santana through creative visuals.
“I have a 360º profile, meaning that, aside from vocals, lyrics and the general composition of the song, I had the idea, direction, production and choreography of my music video.”
“Basically, this project it’s me, both finding and losing myself, doing exactly what I love with a lot of care and attention. But careful, none of it is at random”.
This 2023, pay attention and be careful - you are not prepared for what’s coming.
