Our Mission

HOEZINE is an online magazine dedicated to music, fashion, arts, and culture as well as important issues that minority groups face within society. Founded by Bethan in 2019 and joined by co-founder Jass Mensah in 2022, our mission has been to empower marginalised youth by creating spaces that encourage young artists to express themselves and elevate their vision. We strive to turn our vision of being a stepping stone for unheard voices into reality. Together with a small, dedicated team, we collaborate with and feature creatives from diverse, marginalised backgrounds to produce captivating content. Our goal is not only to showcase their talent but also to promote much-needed diversity and inclusivity within the creative industry, bridging the gap and amplifying voices that often go unnoticed.

We are the megaphone for voices that need to be amplified, and stories that need to be heard.

Why “HOE”ZINE?

We chose a name designed to catch attention and challenge perceptions. By reclaiming the word "hoe," we aim to dismantle the stigma and violence often associated with it, particularly towards women who reject patriarchal standards. For us, “HOE” stands for Happiness Over Everything—a declaration of creating a community where people feel empowered and supported. HOEZINE is a safe space for those who might not have one, built to inspire and uplift.
