What happens when two dynamic creatives put their minds together? A SuperNova. The divine feminine 360 creative royalty that is K.ZIA bands together with the fantastical multimedia world of joyous storytelling that is Sedric Perry on their new EP and musical project - ‘Twin Flame’, out now.
They will also release a tale of espionage, courage, strength and friendship in the form of a two-part Film Noir style music video. It’s giving high fashion and high drama from the exuberant duo - would you expect anything less? ‘Higher (Part 1)’ will be released on 28 November, and ‘Higher (Part 2)’ on 3 December.
With the EP reaching 200K streams just 2 days after its release, and with full live band performances at Pop Kultur and Fete de la Musiq festivals this summer already under their belts, both Sedric and K.ZIA are renowned artists and creative powerhouses in their own right. US born, London-based Sedric is a master at creating worlds within his music, effortlessly fusing elements of R&B, soul, pop and hints of 70s and 80s nostalgia. K.ZIA, daughter of internationally acclaimed artist Zap Mama, is a bold, intoxicating and creative force of nature - blending elements of alternative R&B, soul, Pop, trap and afrobeats with K.ZIA’s captivating vocals. On the EP opening track, ‘In the name’ two people refuse to be callus, but to proclaim that everything they do and every road they take is all in the name of love and for each other, all through the raw emotion of R&B. The project’s focus track ‘Higher’ is a declaration of vibrating on a higher frequency. The bold nature of living with integrity, yet embracing authenticity and claiming stakes to all your desires in life.
‘No place’ is a meditative reflection on reconnecting to ancestors, through cultural practices, such as prayer and altar ceremonies. A song that reveres the heritage of our people pre-colonial times and utilizes them in the present, and closing track ‘You’ acknowledges the triumphs and valleys of a deep connection. Love grows through patience, understanding, communication, and effort.
Since 2019, their creative paths have drifted towards each other, intertwining to give you hits like ‘Blessing’, ‘Deliver’, and ‘Out My Mind’. Their collective releases have garnered 3.5 Million Streams, leading to a creation of their own common fan base and press coverage, most notably, Sedric has been featured in Vogue and K.ZIA supported by Rolling Stone.
In addition to their work together, the two artists also support each other in their solo careers. Sedric was a writer on K.ZIA’s ‘Sanctuary’ as she was director of his music video ‘Count My Blessings’ filmed in Dakar.
