ICONIC LOOKS: THE MET GALA 2021

On 13th September 2021, the biggest fashion event returned to the Metropolitan Museum in New York and it did not fail to disappoint! The best thing about the Met Gala was that it was streamed LIVE for the first time, which meant that the celebrities’ outfits could be judged in real time instead of looking through the photos the day after. The theme for the Met Gala was “In America: A lexicon in Fashion”, which many celebrities interpreted as what America means to them as well as taking inspiration from timeless classics such as Hollywood Glamour and Americana.

Here are some of the looks which graced the famous staircase:

Billie Eillish

The Vogue co-host and the June 2021 cover star channeled Marylin Monroe in her custom made gown made by Oscar de la Renta.

A$AP Rocky & Rihanna

The most talked about couple of the century: A$AP wore Eli Russell Linnetz whilst RiRi wore Balenciaga by Demna Gvasalia

Kendall Jenner

The supermodel paid tribute to Audrey Hepburn by wearing this custom made Givenchy gown.

Lily-Rose Depp

Depp looked stunning in her outfit, which was designed by the fashion house she is an ambassador of - Chanel.

Yara Shahidi

Yara Shahidi graced the staircase in an haute couture Christian Dior gown which paid homage to Josephine Baker.

Timothée Chamalet

Chalamet rocked the Met staircase by wearing a combination of designers (Haider Ackermann, Rick Owens), perfectly tying the look up with Converse Chuck Taylors.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Aurora James

Designer Aurora James produced Ocasio- Cortez’s classy gown with a powerful thought provoking message.
