The Aces unveil infectious new single ‘Jealous’

US alternative pop quartet The Aces today unveil new single ‘Jealous’, a groove-driven pop anthem to launch party season. Exuding undeniable confidence with a funky guitar motif, building kickdrum and falsetto harmonies, the track was produced by the band’s lead guitarist Katie Henderson. Stream now.

“Jealous is about being the coolest person in the room. Many times that comes with adoration and envy, and we wanted to paint the picture of having unshakable confidence throughout all of it.” - The Aces. The track premiered on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop on Wednesday as the stations Future Bop.

‘Jealous’ follows the band’s highly anticipated return withThe Magic’, released back in September as their most pop offering to-date. In a cover interview with the band, DORK commented that it was “a strutting, disco ball bowling serve – something undeniably different but also inescapably brilliant”. The two new tracks launch The Aces’ most bold and confident new era yet, and mark their first new music since last summer’s I’ve Loved You For So Long, the third studio album which gained critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.

I’ve Loved You For So Long was a collection of 11 nostalgic tracks which saw the band reflect on their childhood and unpack how their early experiences with closeted love and religious trauma have influenced their relationships, mental health and identity in the present. Their new chapter sees them fully embrace and celebrate their past, present and queerness, infusing it with a sense of liberation, boldness and joy.

Cristal and Katie from the band recently spoke with Guitar.com for their feature It’s A Femininomenon! How Sapphic Guitarists Are Reviving A Queer Subculture, which discusses the increase of queer female guitarists and the new wave of musicians reclaiming LGBTQIA+ contributions to guitar culture. The feature explores The Aces’ input here alongside other artists such as Phoebe Bridgers/boygenuis, St. Vincent and MUNA.

The Aces recently closed out their US & Canada tour supporting Goth Babe, having also toured extensively globally with their energetic headline show. These gigs followed a huge sold-out show at London’s KOKO last summer, in support of their highly acclaimed indie-pop/rock album I’ve Loved You For So Long which saw the band receive widespread support across the likes of The Guardian, The Independent, Attitude Magazine, Gay Times, NME, DORK, The Line of Best Fit, CLASH, NOTION, Enfnts Terribles, Coup de Main, BBC World, Variety, MTV UK & more. The band also received lots of love at BBC Radio 1, where they recorded a BBC Maida Vale session of two singles plus an incredible Ace-ified cover of SZA’s ‘Nobody Gets Me’.
