After teasing one of the most exciting releases to close the season, South-East London based singer and songwriter Summer Banton finally reveals the highly anticipated single “Be My Guest”. With the audio set for release on Thursday 7th September, “Be My Guest” comes paired with a tastefully nostalgic visual on Thursday 14th September - packed with smooth choreography throughout that takes us  back to the late 90s and early 2000s,  we can't wait for you to set your eyes on it.

Taking time away from releasing music to work on and perfect her craft, Summer returns bigger and better. With addictively sweet production by Livingstone Brown, “Be My Guest” is a carefully self-written track laced with infectious glossy keys, melodic tones and irresistible rhythmic peaks, a track that will cement Summer’s captivating presence across the R&B scene. Immediately drawn in by strong guitar licks and compelling R&B flavours, “Be My Guest” is the perfect way to wrap up an unpredictable and inconsistent love story - best describing the single as a cheeky tease, but an exhilarating power anthem for all the independent women.  

Speaking on the making of the track, Summer says, “Be My Guest” combines all of the elements of the iconic 90’s/ 00’s r&b I grew up on. From the production, to the classic r&b chords and the stacked vocals. Ten year old me would be so proud and excited of the song - I’m freaking out that I could write and sing on a song like ‘Be My Guest’, and call it mine!”

Touching on the making of the video, she continues, “ I wanted the visual to be like the iconic 90’s/ 2000’s music videos I watched on MTV growing up. I pictured choreography, drama and iconic outfits and the director, production team and everyone involved really delivered! I had so much fun rehearsing and shooting the video”. 

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, and Lauryn Hill to name a few, Summer’s unique artistry effortlessly creates room for her to weave together classic R&B sounds with a modern twist. Her take on music allows her to embrace her own unique sonic style, a distinctive sound which also has imprints of the UK’s contemporary music scene. Describing her sound as “a fusion of contemporary R&B, with a nostalgic touch of 90s/2000s”, Summer highlights, “my music is R&B essence inspired by the nostalgic Soul & R&B I grew up on, along with the new genres I listen to today.”  Her musical journey has been heavily influenced by her upbringing; growing up in a household steeped in music, her roots trace back to legendary reggae artist Maxi Priest, and the strong rap presence of her cousin Dirtbike LB, one half of renowned UK duo, D-Block Europe.
