Solo artist Aiko releases video for new single 'Pedestal'

Moscow born, Czech Republic raised and Brighton-based artist Aiko (pronounced eye-ko) has released a video for her new single 'Pedestal'. The track is taken from her upcoming second album Fortune's child, due for self-release on 13th October.

Aiko comments on the new single:

"'Pedestal' was the first song where I allowed myself to truly express the emotions of anger and it was the song to kickstart the rock direction of the album. We worked on the song together with Brighton-based producer Steven Ansell, with whom we have been working for a long time. The song is built on distorted, rockier guitars and drums, combined with a shouty vocal.

"The song talks about negative emotions and situations that a person experiences towards the end of a relationship - when a person keeps apologising to you, but nothing changes, you just keep hearing a lot of empty words. At some point, everything falls into place and you realise that it's time to put yourself first and make yourself the priority. It's a process and it can take a while before one learns to be nice to themselves."
