Simi salutes love on epic new album ‘Lost And Found’

Featuring Lojay, Ladipoe, Asa, Bella Shmurda, Tiwa Savage, Falz - the Naija afropop star returns from a journey of self discovery

Following a string of hit singles, Afro-pop sensation Simi unveils her hotly anticipated new album Lost And Found, out on 5th July.

Released via Simi’s own independent label, Studio Brat, Lost And Found is an album all about love and its healing power, told across 14 tracks of stunning reverb drenched melodies, from an artist who has truly found her most authentic musical self, after a period of self discovery. Described by Simi as “A beautiful blend of my roots and the things that I've discovered along the way.” Simi engineered and co-mixed all songs on the album (except the title track which she mixed herself) and her vocal dexterity and unique approach to melody is showcased throughout the project.

The album opener and title track, ‘Lost And Found’ is a delicate piano ballad where Simi reconnects with her younger self, and documents her journey as a mom, as a woman and as a musician now in her prime.

The album then lifts off into Simi’s more experimental and electrifying afropop space with ‘Miracle Worker’ which features Lojay. And the killer collabs keep coming, as Ladipoe joins Simi on the bonafide live song ‘Know You II’ - a sequel to the Ladipoe track ‘Know You’ which went viral on tiktok and amassed over 30 million views on YouTube since its release 3 years ago. ‘Know You II’, where their musical chemistry is on fire.

Other features include Bella Shmurda, who delivers a refreshingly different flow on the atmospheric ‘Alafia’ and Simi’s childhood musical hero Asa on ‘Messiah’, who Simi describes as “The one person that I've always wanted to do a song with! I used to listen to her so much as a young kid at school.”

Other highlights include the feel-good song for love-seekers ‘All I Want’ and the upbeat and the solid gold afrobeats track ‘Borrow Me Your Baby’, which boasts charismatic verses from Nigerian rapper Falz. Then there’s the stellar collaboration with Tiwa Savage, on their track ‘Men Are Crazy’ which garnered a range of support from the likes of BBC 1Xtra, CNN, The Independent, NYLON and OkayAfrica

Finally the album closes with ‘Jowo’ which celebrates love in the Yoruba language. Simi says: “It’s my version of a track by Nigerian legend Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey. So it’s my tribute to him, as well as being a love song in its own right.”

With ‘Lost And Found’ Simi continues her hot streak in 2024, following last year’s acclaimed ballad ‘Stranger’, while 2024 has already seen collaborations with Candy Bleakz and Adekunle Gold. Last year she joined Grammy-winning superstar Alicia Keys on her North American ‘Keys To The Summer’ tour.

Born and bred in Lagos, Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye aka Simi is an award-winning Nigerian singer, songwriter and sound engineer. After three celebrated studio albums, she left X3M Music in 2019 to launch her record label Studio Brat. Now on the cusp of a million monthly Spotify listeners, the self-described “Soft Queen” has become a leading force in the next wave of Nigerian music, accumulating over 1 billion streams worldwide. Across five critically acclaimed projects, Simi has carved her own lane which navigates between a more rhythmic, commercial sound.
