Rising pop force Absolutely brings us into her ‘alien pop’ world in debut album CEREBRUM

After teasing us throughout the year, rising pop force Absolutely finally welcomes us into her world via her stunning debut album Cerebrum - released on Epic Records / Black Butter Records.

An unlocking of her universe which births her as a future star in the pop landscape, Cerebrum beckons listeners down a rabbit hole and straight into Absolutely’s multi-dimensional world. Each of the record’s thirteen tracks corresponds to a different “room” or chamber of her mind. It opens with “Daylight” where ethereal hums peek through distorted synths. As momentum builds, she issues an ultimatum on the refrain, “Baby I just need you here, it’s now or never.”

Then, there’s “Arrivals.” She uncorks a flurry of emotions over warbling production. Holding nothing back, she wonders aloud, “How much love can I hold?” Expanding this vision, “Glass” hinges on an otherworldly guitar riff punctuated by head-nodding 808s and hi-hats. Fittingly, the journey concludes with “Window.” As if letting in a rejuvenating burst of energy, she urges, “Take a breather baby, open up a window.”

With the Cerebrum record arriving as an insight into the artistic depths of a truly creative burgeoning talent, Absolutely expands her universe by way of three visually thrilling videos for standout singles “Close to You”, “Higher” and “24 Hours”: “I want what I’m creating to be seen as art. The lyrics aren’t so straightforward all of the time. It’s meant to make you think. When you look at a piece of art, it’s up for interpretation. My brain, feelings, and emotions are literally in the tracks, so I hope you feel it.”

With tastemaker heat flooding in from MTV UK, NYLON, Wonderland, Euphoria, Nylon, Noctis and Flaunt Magazine, Absolutely has been winning over fans and building a cult audience with her genre-twisting brand of ‘alien pop’: “I call it ‘alien pop’ because the word ‘alien’ means it doesn’t quite fit in. It’s not from this planet. I feel like my music doesn’t quite fit in any space or any genre,” Absolutely explained in her Frontline Magazine cover story.

Elsewhere, Absolutely is in the midst of joining her sister RAYE for the My 21st Century Blues World Tour, which will see Absolutely connect with audiences in the US, Canada, the UK and wider Europe; the support slot follows on from her raved about set at this year’s Lollapalooza Festival, where she played with Louis The Child and performed their joint track “Stay With Me” (1M+ on Spotify).

Born Abby Keen to a Swiss-Ghanaian mother and British father in South London, she initially dove headfirst into songwriting and made major waves behind the scenes for her pen game, via cuts with the likes of Normani, Anitta, Tinashe, Mahalia, Kiana Ledé and David Guetta – as well as earning studio time with some of the biggest stars in the world in Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez.

Architecting her ‘alien pop’ universe at the nexus of pop, R&B, alternative, soul and electronic sounds, Absolutely asserts herself as a sonic outlier on her debut record Cerebrum – forging her own path as one of the most thrilling new voices coming through from the UK this year.
