RISING INDIE-POP ARTIST
NATALIE SHAY RELEASES
ADDICTIVE NEW SINGLE ‘FIGURE OF 8’

Fresh from performing at Latitude, Victorious Festival and SXSW festival earlier this year, Natalie Shay today releases her shimmering new single Figure of 8. The heartfelt track is accompanied by down to earth b-side play.

Figure of 8 is the latest addition to the singer-songwriter’s collection of upbeat and relatable indie-pop tracks and follows the success of Natalie’s previous single The Edge, as heard on BBC Radio 1. Grounded by an infectious beat, Natalie delves into destructive, gut-wrenching relationships, where despite the heartbreak, you always find yourself running back for more, with the figure of 8 symbolising this vicious cycle.

Natalie says: “You know that endless cycle, when you're stuck in a toxic yet addictive relationship, where you keep trying to leave and they somehow always find a way to reel you back in? That's what Figure of 8 is about.”

The empowering anthem, created entirely by women, is an encouragement to break free from toxic relationships. “Sometimes it's easy to fall in love with the potential of someone, especially when they're so good at saying they'll change and then not changing. You just keep hoping that maybe this time they actually mean it.”

The single is accompanied by b-side play. Written by Natalie at 4am in her bedroom, it’s a vulnerable and raw interpretation of the same topic. play explores the underlying reason why people are often drawn into toxic relationships and find it hard to escape. Natalie says “this track is a self-aware piece about making those conscious, deliberate mistakes. Knowing what’s going on in your trauma bond, knowing this person isn’t right for you, but almost choosing to put yourself through it as an escape from reality or self-punishment”.

Natalie is currently in the studio recording her EP.
