“Trophy Wife, my debut EP, is an intimate project written about my experience moving through the world in my early twenties. To me, it’s a coming of age EP. Trophy Wife is very personal to my own story. It touches on themes of femininity, perfectionism, loss, and lightheartedness amidst pain. When I couldn’t quite capture my feelings through the words or lyrics, I felt my emotions come through the music I wrote. The emotional resonance of the music means every bit as much to me as the lyrics. Ultimately, noticing, feeling, processing, and critically thinking through my experiences lead to the making of Trophy Wife, my debut EP.” - Pool Girl

This year, Allie Nixon has ventured into new sonic territory under the Pool Girl moniker, where melancholic melodies fuse seamlessly with indie electronic production. Since releasing her debut single ‘I liked it’ in June, she has accumulated over 200k+ monthly listeners and has received placements on Spotify editorial playlists such as Lorem, All New Indie, & Dopamine

(to name a few).

Pool Girl is Allie’s new solo persona, an introspective and deeply personal project that draws inspiration from themes of mental health, loss, and femininity. Her debut EP, ‘Trophy Wife’, is executive produced by artist and friend, Michl, whose guidance and production brought the entire EP to life.

For the visuals of the EP, Pool Girl collaborated with esteemed editorial photographer Charlie Denis, who expertly captured the essence of 'Trophy Wife'. His work brings to life the project's core themes of femininity, pressure, and perfectionism.

Since the release of her first single, Pool Girl’s music has been met with astonishing support, with previous releases like ‘I Liked It’, ‘Seeing You’, and the recent track ‘Spinning’ building excitement for this full body of work which also features brand new singles ‘Translucent’, ‘Champagne’ and a blissful ‘Intro’ track.

Speaking on the story behind the EP’s focus track, ‘Translucent’, Pool Girl shares; "Translucent is one of the most honest songs I’ve written.

It’s about not having the words to describe what you’re going through but wishing you could be heard, seen, and understood.

Translucent was a very visual song to me from the beginning, I kept imaging a body being fully translucent, and someone observing this see through body with clarity and understanding — there’s nothing in the way to get the message wrong, the the whole body is clear and the truest nature is revealed."

‘Translucent’ showcases Pool Girl’s ethereal side, enveloping listeners in a dreamy, electronic-infused pop soundscape, while ‘Champagne’ takes the form of a more laid-back, beach house-inspired song. Both tracks, along with the blissful ‘Intro’ piece, encapsulate Pool Girl’s ability to create music that feels expansive yet intimate.
