Paris-born superstar Eugénie releases brand new single "Back Skin"
Rising French starlet Eugénie explores complex love across “Back Skin” – released via Filature Recordings.
One of the most exciting and powerful voices emerging in the alt-pop landscape, Eugénie continues her dominant return to the ether with “Back Skin”. Setting pace with huge, distorted guitars and heavy-weight drum breaks, the Paris-born artist instantly commands the beat with infectious harmonies while balancing vulnerability and the addictive complexities between love and lust. “Why do I still fall, you don’t even love me // This is my last call”, she pleads as sultry flashbacks and toxic ultimatums become a driving force for her to reconnect with someone in the endless chase for real love.
Speaking on the record, Eugénie mentions: “With ‘Back Skin’, I explored the intimate memory of drawing little messages on my lover’s bare back, playing with the boundary between the child and the adult within me. The saturated bass riffs and choral harmonies express a strong and fragile, almost sacred sensuality. I wanted to embody guilty desire and the longing to return to a deliberately naive state.”
Hot on the scene in 2024 with blossoming singles “Stop” and “Mess It Up Mad”, Eugénie’s dystopian soundwaves and storytelling approach have encapsulated the ethereal experiences for those seeking solace in their own creative journeys. Through vivid expressions of love, heartbreak and otherworldly connections, her raw-chic aesthetic has garnered serious attention from both music and fashion spaces.
An early co-sign from haute-couture fashion house Chanel catapulted the rising talent into the spotlight, all building up to the release of her stunning 2022 EP Moment In Time - a complex retelling of her life experiences and the ongoing struggles with heartbreak, lust, vulnerability and self-expression.
With tracks blending UKG and DnB textures, her introspective, potent lyricism remains a significant strength across the project. Quickly earning praise from the likes of ANTIDOTE MAGAZINE, CLASH and BBC R1’s Jack Saunders, her striking aesthetic elevated fashion editorials with NOCTIS MAGAZINE, MIXTE MAGAZINE, F-WORD and BOYCOTT – a clear marker of Eugénie’s bold artistry and creative evolution blazing to new heights across international waters.
With a plethora of releases and shows still to come this year incl. The Social in London on November 12th, Eugénie is doing things on her own terms, and making it look easy.
