Massimo Osti Studio unveils the new Chapters and Continuative Garments for 2025
21st January 2025
Massimo Osti Studio, the premium sportswear brand built on the cultural and design heritage of the revolutionary Italian designer, presents the new Chapters and a line of Continuative Garments for 2025.
The Studio embraces the concept of an ‘open brand,’ drawing inspiration from the collaborative spirit of 15th-century Renaissance studios, where the ‘hand of the master’ was passed down through generations. Building on the groundbreaking experiments conducted by Massimo Osti throughout his career, the brand places sperimentazione—a human-centred, iterative approach to trial and error—at the core of its process, rather than adhering to rigid scientific methodologies.
Chapters represent the pinnacle of Massimo Osti Studio’s research and development, showcasing cutting-edge fabrics and cross-industry collaborations. Breaking away from conventional seasonality, they are released in specific months throughout the year.
Continuative Garments stand alongside Chapters as a cornerstone of the brand. Inspired by Massimo Osti’s personal wardrobe, this range offers curated everyday layers defined by a minimalist and timeless aesthetic. Key pieces include liners, knitwear, overshirts, shirts, t-shirts, polos, accessories, and trousers. Crafted from high-quality materials, selected styles are garment dyed, providing unique colour hues and tone variations intensified with every use.
For Massimo Osti Studio, 2024 marked its ‘Year Zero,’ serving as a manifesto of the brand’s vision and approach. Key highlights included innovative interpretations of Alcantara®, Jacquard (Trama 3D), and GORE-TEX INFINIUM™, a collaboration with Leatherman, and a tribute to Andrea Pazienza.
From 2025, Massimo Osti Studio products will be available for the first time at selected retailers worldwide, in addition to the brand's official website, massimoosti.com. This distribution strategy aims to create a broad yet exclusive presence in key areas such as the United States, Europe and Asia.
Among the Chapters launching in 2025 are new iterations of Trama 3D and Alcantara®:
Chapter 10 Trama 3D
Developed with Limonta | 1893, this Chapter provides a new narrative of Jacquard technology, using an industrial process inspired by airbag manufacturing and 3D detailing. Made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon, the items are garment dyed, and anti-drop treated. The design starts with a single yarn, creating an entire panel with placed elements, like logo applications. Once the panel is complete, the fabric is laser-cut to map all the components with pockets and details seamlessly integrated for three-dimensional effects.
Chapter 11 Alcantara®
Alcantara® represents the perfect synthesis of Massimo Osti's design principles, presenting a non-woven material originally developed for the automotive industry, renowned for its unique texture and high performance. Crafted from a combination of polyester and polyurethane, the garments are laser-cut and constructed with an innovative technique using heat-sensitive mesh tape. Alcantara® offers high abrasion resistance and an anti-drop treatment, with opaque plastic-effect details obtained through the thermal reaction of the material with the mesh tape.
Chapter 12 Fresco Woolgum
Developed with Limonta | 1893, this Chapter presents a contemporary reinterpretation of Tecnowool, developed by Massimo Osti in the mid-’90s, blending tailoring and sportswear. The garments are crafted from combed wool twill coated with a double resin. The distinctive uneven colour effect is achieved through garment dyeing, further enhanced by the gabardine twill structure of the wool. The inner resin partially resists the dye, resulting in unique mélange effects.
Two collaborative Chapters will be released exclusively on massimoosti.com during the first months of 2025, delving into cultural themes aligned with Massimo Osti Studio's philosophy.
