Marti Perramon shares new track ‘Gold Smile’

“A clear ear for anthemic hooks and a thoughtful approach to the songwriting… Marti Perramon announces himself to the contemporary pop field”

Marti Perramon shares brand new track ‘Gold Smile’, which is out now on Polydor Records. ‘Gold Smile’ captures the whirlwind of new romance, switching up from tender, confessional R&B to an exuberant rush of hip-hop – young love, in all its thrills and uncertainties. Marti introduces ‘Gold Smile’ as “feeling completely infatuated by someone, and being excited to share a night with them. It describes the euphoria and journey of falling for someone new.”

A major new talent, 19-year-old Marti Perramon was born in Spain before settling in South London. After his parents separated, Marti joined school without knowing a word of English: he proved, however, fluent in melody, absorbing everything from his Mum’s tradition of flamenco to the timeless songwriting of Ray Charles. Self-taught all the way from the words to the music, Marti Perramon now marries that hyper-sensitivity of his upbringing with borderless musicality: today, influences range from the intricate songwriting of Clairo to emotionally unguarded rap heroes like Mac Miller.

‘Gold Smile’ sees Marti Perramon continue to play around with sounds, stories, and where he stands in the world. ‘Good Life’, for instance, was a seemingly sunny-side-up single about the learned behaviour to keep putting yourself second. Recent track ‘Daffodils’, meanwhile, was musically uplifting but likewise seeded in angst, as a relationship wilts but the feelings linger. ‘Gold Smile’ showcases Marti Perramon’s willingness to experiment and start wearing the messiness of growing up and trying to fit in as a badge-of-honour: an odd-one-out, turned alt-pop One to Watch.
