LUCIIA’s Musical Journey: Unveiling Her Dreamy Sound and Artistry
By TMILKY
LUCIIA, the talented singer-songwriter, is captivating the music industry with her enchanting sound. In an exclusive interview for HOEZINE, LUCIIA shared the story behind her musical journey, inspirations, and her aspirations for the ever-so promising future. She’s performed at SXSW 2023, and has tinkered with music in the studio alongside Camper (Coco Jones, H.E.R, Brandy etc).
Taking a dip into LUCIIA’s deep sounds and lyricism, her new EP - WITH II EYES - comforts you in a dreamscape of emotive language and breath-taking vocals. If a mermaid listened to music, if nature could sing, if fairies were partial to a tune, they’d listen to LUCIIA.
“I would say that's how we have written most of the songs, just talking about different emotions and what I want to talk about - how you can flip something from this to that, and just as well relate to one another.”
After a surreal year - opening for Coldplay at multiple shows, hosting a release party at the lucrative Soho House in Sweden, collaborating with her dream team producer Maleik - LUCIIA is gliding through all the dreams her mind conjures up. The dedication to her craft is so rich, I could feel it as soon as she began speaking. Now, she’s splitting her time working on her music in places that feel like dreams - London being a hotspot for her inspiration.
“Like, I dream a lot. That's the thing I really like. Every time I go to sleep, I see myself there. How it tastes, how it will feel to win a Grammy, or how it will be like, what my speech is going to be.”
According to LUCIIA, her dreamy sound and aesthetics are a result of years of exploration and self-discovery. Working with various producers, she finally found herself in a space where she prioritized her own story. Meeting her producer a year ago was a turning point, as they had open conversations and created an amazing sound together.
LUCIIA expressed gratitude towards her cohesive and synchronised team who believe in her vision. Her musical inspirations include artists like The Script and Victoria Monet. As an artist, LUCIIA embraces the healing aspect of her music. Through her latest EP, she hopes to connect with listeners on a deeper level and encourage them to embrace their own vulnerabilities.
Looking ahead, LUCIIA is already working on her third project and has collaborated with renowned producers. Live shows are also in the pipeline for the coming year - with visits promised to London. She even was nominated for a Swedish Grammy 2023 for best R&B/Soul, so you know there’s something magical with anything she touches.
“I actually got, like, an offer today if I want to perform in London next year. And I hope to see you there.”
Performing in London January 31st at the event Acoustic Live at Notting Hill Arts Club alongside Lewis Fitzgerald and OSA.
