London born and raised R&B singer-songwriter OURAA shares her new dark R&B single ‘BEDBUGZ’, out now for spooky season!

The track is the latest single from her upcoming EP ‘Blood Orange’, set for release in Spring 2024. The track follows the release of the EP’s gorgeously uplifting debut single ‘Just Breathe’ which landed support from key tastemakers such as DUMMY, Earmilk, Wordplay, Noctis and many more. OURAA also features on Nines’ most recent album on his track ‘Only One’, which has surpassed 1 million streams on Spotify.

Produced by London producer and artist TEE, ‘BEDBUGZ’ once again showcases OURAA’s natural gift as a storyteller. Inspired by lyricists and artists such as Robert Glasper, PJ Morton and Jazmine Sullivan, she thrives off being able to experiment with the emotions and feelings she’s able to convey with her songwriting.

A message of empowerment, OURAA says, “I was in the studio with Tee and Jabez Walsh (my friend who helped with some magical backing vocals to the single!) and the songwriting process for this track was very emotionally lead. In life, I realised with time that not everyone is who they say they are and not everyone has your best intentions at heart.

The message I want my listeners to take away from this song is to not let the “BEDBUGZ” - aka the negative energies - get in the way of what you have to give to the universe. Sometimes it might not even be physical people it could also be that voice in your head that keeps telling you you can’t do something. Don’t let that stop you from being amazing.”

OURAA also announces the release of the highly anticipated new EP ‘Blood Orange’. Highly vulnerable and emotionally charged, on the EP OURAA explores themes of mental health, navigating friendships and dealing with people you can’t understand. She says, “it’s something that I’ve struggled with for years and have only really started to deal with recently by going to therapy and building on my relationship with Christ… I want to bring you all into what’s been going on in my mind most days.”

Born and raised in South East London, OURAA grew up around a lot of culture, love and community - and this has really shaped the sound we hear today. Unaware that she had dyslexia or ADHD, OURAA always struggled at growing up, apart from music lessons where she was always on top. In 2015, she joined a gospel choir, and her love for music and vocals grew from there. She started her musical project OURAA in 2016, and has been creating music ever since. Whether it’s her visual orange dominant branding or sound you’ll always get an injection of her infectious personality!

Already supported by BBC 1Xtra’s Jamz Supernova and UK star Kojey Radical, ‘Blood Orange’ is out in Spring next year. Watch this space.
