Latin ‘It Girl’ GALE debuts “SKITTLES”
3x Latin GRAMMY nominated singer and songwriter GALE (@GALE) starts the year off sweet, debuting a playful exploration of young love and nostalgia–on her new single “Skittles.” The colorful, upbeat pop anthem is accompanied by a visual love letter dedicated ‘in memory of Ati’ and her home, San Juan, Puerto Rico // watch here //. Rising artist ROBI makes a cameo appearance as Ati in the music video, in his memory.
In the Rolling Stone-crowned ‘it girl’/‘pop girl’s own words, "Skittles" is a love letter to nostalgia, reflecting on that first love that left a mark on my life. It’s a song that brings back the little moments—from a kiss on the stairs to driving around together all day—simple things that, although left in the past, remain forever. Writing it felt like traveling back in time, reliving those memories with a heart full of emotion and a touch of melancholy… It’s a song about how that first love leave us with something eternal even if they don’t last. I hope that when you listen to it, you can connect with your memories and feel that “forever” that’s never forgotten.”
“Skittles” – which previews GALE’s next studio project – follows recent releases, “Por Si Las Dudas” with Lagos, and a Pol Granch collaboration, “Tarantino”. It also follows GALE’s internationally chart topping “La Razón” with Ana Mena; and a reimagined Shakira cover “Inevitable;” further proving GALE’s versatility as an artist, and a songwriter, and adding to her impressive repertoire of award nominated songs co-penned for female powerhouses including Shakira, Christina Aguilera, and Anitta; as well as chart-topping leaders Manuel Turizo and Juanes, to name a few.
GALE – a chameleonic multi-talent – continues her Rolling Stone co-signed “pop girl moment” on her latest, “Skittles,” making another evolution in her musical journey, and continuing to touch hearts across the globe with her relatable lyrics.
Reigned Rolling Stone’s “It Girl” in tandem with the release of her acclaimed and debut album, “Lo Que No Te Dije,” GALE’s 12-song debut project made Rolling Stone’s “Best Albums” and Billboard’s “Best Latin Albums” mid-year and year-end lists. It tracked the multi-color shades of GALE’s journey; from fuck-you feminist punk anthems, vulnerable heartbreak ballads and even dream-pop odes to self-pleasure. A delicious mix of pop, eurodance, punk, grunge and urban-flow. Songs to repeat: “Nuestra Canción”, which ranked #7 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, “Problemas”, which also rocketed to the Top 15, “Inmadura” and “D-Pic.”
Celebrating her artistry, GALE performed on the coveted Latin GRAMMY stage in Sevilla, Spain, as a ‘Best New Artist’ nominee and performer, alongside Juanes. The Rolling Stone “Act Set to Make it Big…” and Billboard co-signed “Artist to Watch” scored 3 Latin GRAMMY nominations, and she also received her first Premio Lo Nuestro nomination for ‘Best New Female Artist’. GALE sang the US national anthem at the F1 Miami Grand Prix in Miami; performed at the Latin Alternative Music Conference, and also participated in Billboard Latin Week. The best is yet to come…
