Future soul star Ray Lozano is chronically online in new single ‘I DON’T CARE’
Singer, songwriter, producer and future soul star Ray Lozano has today released new single ‘I DON’T CARE’, the latest track to be unveiled from her forthcoming album, SILK&SORROW, out 28th March via Melting Pot Music.
On ‘I DON’T CARE’, production quirks, unfiltered harmonies and a steady R&B beat back Lozano’s flawless tone and effortless vocal; a fusion of free-flowing soul and meticulously crafted experimental production. Incorporating glitchy sound design, the track’s playful sonic exploration complements Lozano’s lyricism, such as being ‘chronically online’, capturing the tension of modern digital Iife in more ways than one.
Of the track, Ray Lozano said: “’I DON’T CARE’ digs deep into the apathy and disconnection of a generation lost in digital chaos and the monotony of everyday life. The track taps into a collective sense of emptiness, reflecting the overwhelming feeling of being disconnected from reality in today’s fast-paced world. But hey–who really cares, right?”
‘I DON’T CARE’ follows previously released singles ‘KIKI, ‘HiYA’ and ‘DRAGON’, all of which will feature on Lozano’s upcoming sophomore album, SILK&SORROW, next month. The new record is set to level-up her eclectic, lo-fi future soul into something uncompromising and playful, while being all the more empowering.
An anthem for late-night introspection, on SILK&SORROW, Lozano explores the contradictions we face daily, creating a sonic embrace for anyone caught between connection and detachment, feeling everything and nothing all at once. The title says it all: "Silk" gives you warmth and comfort, while "sorrow" hits you with an emotional gut punch you didn't see coming. It's a reminder that softness and pain aren't mutually exclusive—they're two sides of the same coin, constantly present in our daily lives, whether we're ready for them or not.
SILK&SORROW isn't about fixing things. It's about feeling them in all their messy glory. It’s not trying to be trendy, or polished, but rather hits you where it hurts and where it heals, and shows you that the chaos is where the magic happens. Lozano’s ability to take the mundane and make it electric is what sets her apart – transforming fleeting moments of vulnerability into something universal, something visceral.
New tracks from the project have seen support from the likes of CLASH, The Blues Project, COLORS and more, following additional love from Jamz Supernova and BBC 1Xtra. On Sunday 27th April, Lozano will play London’s Brick Lane Jazz Festival, having performed captivating shows throughout Germany and opening slots for the likes of Joy Denalane, Louis Culture and Victor Ray.
