ELECTRIFYING POP NEWCOMER EMiDORA RETURNS WITH SOPHOMORE SINGLE
“i think i’ve drowned”
Making a powerful comeback with her sophomore single, electro-pop sensation EMiDORA unveils dance-soaked track "i think i’ve drowned" - available now on all streaming platforms.
Bouncing between sparky pop and heavier EDM influences, EMiDORA delivers an intoxicating single with “i think i’ve drowned”, detailing her experience with crushing anxiety and the loss of control that can come from alcohol-fuelled environments.
EMiDORA shares: "This track is about the absolute crushing anxiety I sometimes feel when I think I've said something stupid or something that would make people not like me. It makes me retreat into my shell and feel like I can’t stay in that space, so I end up zoning out. It’s also about the lack of inhibition you get when you’re drunk, and things just start coming out of your mouth—like, what am I saying?! That’s why the song has a dance club vibe—it reflects those moments when I get too comfortable after drinking and end up having a breakdown at a party… It’s really about that struggle with yourself."
A summer sizzler, “i think i’ve drowned” captures the swirling chaos of anxiety, intoxication, and loss of control with blurry, strobe-flashing melodies and a steady bass heartbeat that pulses through your core. With high-energy dance club movements, the song embodies the peak of summer, featuring scorching electro-pop melodies and vocal hooks that cling to the body.
The track arrives with an intriguing visualiser, capturing EMiDORA’s figure as she remains immobile, flip phone in hand - embodying her distinctive style while reflecting the track’s intense journey through anxiety - watch here.
A self-described "psychology nerd," EMiDORA delves into some of her inner darkness through her music, driven by a passion for creating songs that resonate with people’s own experiences.
“i think i’ve drowned” follows EMiDORA’s debut single “twenny one (happy birthday)”, which received praise from Notion, The Line of Best Fit, IGGY Magazine, DMY, and Purple Melon.
Growing up, EMiDORA was bombarded with her parents’ chaotic music tastes, ranging from Mozart to Destiny’s Child and Jack Johnson to Arctic Monkeys. At age 7 it was clear EMiDORA was musically gifted - she began playing the violin, shortly followed by the clarinet. However, the struggle with communicating her emotions overshadowed her childhood and she immersed herself in internet culture as a form of escapism. Making her way through her teenage years against a backdrop of Troye Sivan, Halsey and Years & Years, EMiDORA’s style began to take shape as an amalgamation of pop-punk, alternative, and RnB vocal melodies against electronic instrumentals. Her vocals have permeated the East Midlands music scene, with collaborations landing her in the top 30 most-played artists of BBC Introducing in the East Midlands in 2021 and 2023. She has played several BBC Introducing Stages, been featured on BBC Radio 1 and has played multiple festivals across the East Midlands including Y Not Festival and Splendour Fest.
