Discovering new music may sometimes be a drag – whether you don’t know where to find the right artist for your sophisticated musical taste buds or Spotify isn’t really on the same page as you, it might be hard to find the right artist at the right time. But we got you!
Explore the mystical world of Jodie Bryant, the face of the new music in the UK, as she guides you through a fusion of music genres through Discover London. The event, in which Jodie has teamed up with Music Gateway, champions the future of UK musicians and it serves as a networking platform for independent artists to meet people alike, from collaborators to industry connections.
Jodie, who is already quite a household name owing to her overwhelming presence both on social media and on the radio, has always been a girlie’s girl, with a strong dedication to uplift female musicians and foster inclusivity and diversity within the industry. Furthermore, she gave debut radio to musicians such as Flo Gallop, EVA, and Kat Penkin since she’s been presenter for Radio 1 and BBC Introducing.
Two years after it started, Discover Live has become one of the most ground-breaking events in the UK, as it recently had its first sold-out gig in Manchester, with a wild line-up including JAXN, Olivia Browse, Lois, and Pipa Crossland. One of the best new music nights for discovering brand-new musicians with a bright enthusiasm to perform on a well-demanded line-up, many artists credited the project as their career kickstart. Some of the past headliners have included Ines Ray, Áine Deane, or Nxdia.
Recently, Jodie has been quite a busy girl, with another revolutionary project on the way. Fan Girl Files, which promises to be a jump-start for young female artists, is the newest YouTube format under her signature, where she’ll interview musicians disguised as their superfan. The first episode is out now, and she interviews London-based singer Gia Lily, who has managed to gain a fanbase of 300k followers on TikTok with her sassy and sad music, reminiscing empowering artists such as Charli XCX, Miley Cyrus, Gwen Stefani, or Freddie Mercury.
For those eager to dive into a world of musical madness (in a good way), flavoured with hints of indie, R&B, or pop music, Bryant and Music Gateway will open their doors to their girlie-pop universe on the 17th of April at Star of Kings in King’s Cross. Headliners will be artists like Saint Clair, Tia Gordon, Jean, and Matilda Cole. We advise you to get the tickets now, before it’s sold out!
