Dekmantel Ten Celebrates 10 Years Of Dekmantel Festival With 10 Days Showcasing Electronic Music

Dekmantel announces its tenth edition featuring more than 200 artists across two full weekends and ten total days of programming. Dekmantel Ten is scheduled to run from July 26 to August 4, and will take place in multiple locations around the Dutch capital, including Het HEM, Oude Kerk, Muziekgebouw and Amsterdamse Bos. A celebration of electronic music's past, present and future, Dekmantel Ten pays tribute to both the genre's essential icons and the groundbreaking figures boldly leading the culture toward what comes next. Highlighting sounds from across the electronic music spectrum, and also featuring a number of live debuts and specially commissioned performances, this year's lineup includes:

DJ SPRINKLES, CATERINA BARBIERI & SPACE AFRIKA PRESENT LAST TRACK (W/ MFO), MIDORI TAKADA, NICK LÉON & EZRA MILLER, ACTRESS, RON TRENT, NOSAJ THING & DAITO MANABE, JEFF MILLS, JOSEY REBELLE, PETER HOOK AND THE LIGHT, OLOF DREIJER & DIVA CRUZ, RHR, BINH & DJ MASDA, VLADA, POLYGONIA, SYBIL, OGAZÓN & RYAN ELLIOTT, MARCOS VALLE, INTROSPEKT, SAFETY TRANCE & TOCCORORO, RP BOO & SHERELLE AND MANY OTHERS.

The first three days of Dekmantel Ten will unfold at a new location, Het HEM. The former ammunition factory in Zaandam has become one of the Amsterdam region's brightest cultural hubs. On the festival's opening night, it plays host to rave revivalists Bicep and their dazzling audio-visual show CHROMA. Rounding out the weekend are two additional nights at Het HEM, one devoted to techno's dark underbelly, with artists like Luke Slater, Aurora Halal, SPFDJ, Oscar Mulero and Mala Junta's D. Dan, Hyperaktivist & DJ TOOL, and the other to the timeless joy of house music, courtesy of such acts as Avalon Emerson, Young Marco, DJ Python, Hunee & Orpheu The Wizard, JASSS and Shanti Celeste.

On July 30, drone sorceress Kali Malone performs on the organ at Oude Kerk, a church and art space that also happens to be one of the oldest buildings in Amsterdam. The next night, Dekmantel stages its annual concert at the Muziekgebouw concert hall, where Japanese composer and percussionist Midori Takada is joined on the bill by bnnyhunna and an ensemble led by Jameszoo. Staying on the banks of the IJ, the following day will continue to spotlight artists pushing the boundaries of electronic music beyond the dancefloor, with the likes of bar italia, Huerco S., Alex Kassian, Oklou, Rabih Beani & Tomoko Mukaiyama, Moin, a.s.o., Bendik Giske and numerous others taking the stage at a variety of different venues.

This year's forest festivities include something for ravers of all stripes. The word icon was created for artists like Marcel Dettmann, and additional techno mayhem comes courtesy of irreverent box bangers Karenn. The cosmic excursions of Jane Fitz and Vlada aren't to be missed, and the beloved Carista brings soul to everything she does. Dubstep hero Mala-who will be performing a rare live set-provides a serious dose of bass, as do footwork originator RP and low-end specialist SHERELLE, who join forces for a special B2B session. Also teaming up behind the decks are revered UK selectors Ben UFO and Joy Orbison, dancefloor surgeons Ogazón and Ryan Elliot, and bass queens DJ Storm and Darwin, whose B2B should function as a sort of intergenerational mind-meld. Working solo, the incomparable DVS1 delivers a special house set, while those seeking razor-sharp electro and acid can count on Helena Hauff and her punk rock snarl. Groove connoisseur Masalo plays live for the very first time, and low-end excavator L.B. Corp also has a new live show to debut. Tech-trance explorer Courtesy always turns up the heat, and the free-flowing Gabrielle Kwarteng is a master of slow-burning rhythms. Eris Drew serves up breakbeat euphoria (powered by the Motherbeat, of course) and the ever-charming Palms Trax brings his uniquely bubbly beats to the table. With artists like Kode9, Bok Bok and Pangaea on hand, the UK bass continuum is well represented, as is the wider global bass sphere, thanks to the Middle Eastern mutations of Toumba, the Brazilian hybrids of BADSISTA and the reggaeton chaos that Safety Trance and Toccororo are sure to unleash.
