‘ALL EYES ON YOU’ THE NEW SINGLE FROM ELECTRO-POP SINGER-SONGWRITER GEORGIE O’BRIEN
Hot off the back of the release of her single ‘High’, singer-songwriter Georgie O’Brien drops yet another undeniably infectious electro-pop gem ‘All Eyes On You’, out everywhere on 12 April. Watch the music video here.
Produced by Indigo Eyes, ‘All Eyes On You’ follows the release of Georgie and Indigo Eyes’ previous singles ‘Cross Your Mind’ and ‘Jaded’ which featured on Indigo Eyes’ debut EP and has landed over 2.8 Million streams on Spotify to date. Combining elements of pop, UK Garage and trap with electronic beats and slick production, the track is about how people can be love blind when they drink alcohol.
Having already landed support from the likes of Ministry of Sound, DMY and BBC Radio Oxford, ‘All Eyes On You’ showcases Georgie’s ability to transcend genres as well as her prowess as a songwriter. Naming artists such as Bon Iver, Japanese House and London Grammar as her inspirations, she draws from her combined influences to mould and craft her distinctively upbeat sound. She thrives off the ability to experiment with her music and the concepts and emotions she’s able to portray through her songwriting, drawing her listener in by telling stories with expressionism and relatability, all wrapped up in glistening electro beats and Georgie’s captivating vocals.
Speaking of the track, she says, “I had a studio session with Jo (Indigo Eyes) and he played me the instrumental and showed me melody ideas and I was so inspired. We wrote and finished it pretty quickly, but I feel like the best ones always are! Jo’s production usually inspires me a pretty hefty amount and I think we were both pretty inspired by the tracks energy. The single built around the phrase ‘all eyes on you’, it made us both think about dancing and disco vibes, and I think you can hear a wash of disco influence throughout the production too.
Lyrically, the track explores the fact that you can’t always see past someone's poor behaviour or the relationship's toxicity when you're wavy on drinks. The track touches on the feeling of being swept back into your feelings when you go out and drink and dance; getting lost in the situation because it feels familiar. You're only human, but it points to how alcohol will literally strip you of any integrity you have towards the situation.
I think putting a positive uplifting spin on the sonics of the song can make the situation feel lighter. This track sits on a darker storyline, but the production and vibe of the track is intended to lift you up and make you wanna move. Jo and I love this song so much, and regardless of whether you relate to the context, we just hope it makes you happy when you listen… especially if you wanna dance!”
Oxford born and raised, Georgie has been singing for as long as she can remember and started playing guitar at the age of 7. With influences ranging from her mum’s love of Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin to her dads Motown and soul/funk albums and tapes, Georgie’s ability to effortlessly transcend and experiment with genre is evident in her distinctive sound.
“Music got me through a lot of dark heavy stuff and I found a lot of relief through writing. Spirituality and music have quite literally saved my life, so its place is very important and necessary. It’s cathartic but also so fun, as it is for a lot of people. I’ve always had a deep calling to do music, it’s where I’m most happy.”
With ‘All Eyes On You’ being one of a string of releases this year, 2023 shows no signs of slowing down for the multi-faceted artist. Watch this space.
